Pet Insurance & Financial Service

There is no equivalent of Medicare for pets, so treatment costs can exceed out-of-pocket expenses for a similar condition in a human.
Did you know that 24-hour emergency and critical care for animals can cost over $1,000 per day? Some surgeries such as repair of fractured bones or exploratory surgery can also add up to thousands of dollars and that’s before including recovery and aftercare treatment. It is a heartbreaking situation to have to choose between the health of your pet and financial constraints, so for peace of mind we strongly recommend that your pet is insured.
There are several companies that offer pet insurance, and we can help you find one that best suits your needs and your pet. Individual policies vary in the type of treatment covered. However, they usually include most accidents and unexpected illnesses. When selecting an insurance policy for your pet, you need to consider the differences in conditions and treatments covered, the excess amount, percentage of treatment costs covered, annual claim limit and sub-limits for certain conditions, age restrictions, pre-existing illness exclusions and the price of the premium.
Since our clinic became integrated with GapOnly claims, we have seen owners find it much easier to afford the treatment their pets need. GapOnly works a little bit like HICAPS for humans, where we will submit an insurance claim for you and your insurance company will pay any benefit owed directly to us, so owners only have to focus on paying the remaining amount.

Some features of GapOnly insurance include:
- No more having to figure out how to come up with the full treatment cost straight away, we can lodge a pre-approval for your pet’s treatment, so owners can have some idea of how much their insurance will cover prior to treatment
- No more stressing for days on end waiting to find out how much your insurance will pay you back and how long it will take
- Many companies also offer a free trial policy, usually 30 days, so you can make sure you are happy with the policy before continuing.
You can find a list of insurance companies that come with the added convenience of the GapOnly services here. You can compare policies based on all the important features such as premium costs, excesses and policy sub-limits to choose the right policy for you and your pet. Vet Pay
VetPay is a company that offers financial plans for owners who may not be able to pay their vet bills in full, particularly if their pet has had an expected illness, accident or emergency. They partner with vet clinics to offer flexible payment plans to ensure the optimum level of health for all animals, while also encouraging responsible pet ownership within Australia. While we are unable to provide payment plans directly through our clinic, we are pleased to be able to offer Vetpay’s services to any clients that may need the extra financial help. The approval process is quick and simple to do online and you can read more about Vetpay here.
Although we can only offer general advice, if you have any questions about insurance or VetPay, your vet or our receptionist Kelly will be happy to help!
